What are the Best Racing Games for the Logitech G27

The best racing games for the Logitech G27 include classics like Gran Turismo 6, Need for Speed: Undercover, F1 2013, Burnout Paradise, and iRacing. These games pair perfectly with the G27, offering realistic force feedback and immersive gameplay. Whether you enjoy arcade racing or precise simulation, these titles make the most of this iconic steering wheel.

The Logitech G27 is one of the older steering wheels made by Logitech. It was released way back in 2010 and was designed to replace the older Logitech G25. The Logitech G27 is only compatible with the PS3, PS2, and PC. This means that it cannot play games on the PS4 or PS5.

This is not a surprise, as the Logitech G27 was made all the way back in 2010 and would not have been designed to interface with new PlayStation hardware.

Given that the Logitech G27 is only compatible with the older generation PlayStation consoles and current PC models, designing a list of the best games that came with the Logitech G27 would feel like a trip down memory lane and a trip to eBay, as you won’t be able to find any of the games listed here on Amazon because they aren’t brand new.

However, because the Logitech G27 can play PC games, there will be a few new games that you can play with it, but you should also remember that it is an old steering wheel and might not handle very well with some newer games given that they have been designed with some new features.

What are the Best Racing Games for the Logitech G27

Designing a list of the best racing games for the Logitech G27 really is a nostalgia trip. A lot of the games I picked for this list were all based on my personal preferences and past experiences with most of these games. I had a lot of fun playing most of these games again, and it was really fun going through some of them again. It also made me remember why I stopped playing some of them in the first place.

When I decided to put this list together, I got to go to my family home and pick up my old PS3 and I had to buy the Logitech G27 on eBay again because I sold mine way back in 2014. I found the Logitech G27 on eBay for $130, which almost felt like a rip-off, but because I had to buy it to make this list, I just went for it.

There were a lot of games to pick from and scaling it down to a top 5 list was very stressful but my editor said I stick with a top 5. So, without further ado, here’s my list of the best 5 games to play with the Logitech G27.

Gran Tourismo 6 (Sim Racer_ Available on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360)

1. Gran Tourismo 6 (Sim Racer; Available on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360)

The video game Gran Turismo 6, or GT6, as it is commonly known, was created by Polyphony Digital. This sixth instalment of the series features intense action-driven gameplay, intense car races, and a variety of vehicles (including X-Series Cars, Volkswagen GTI Roadster Gran Turismo, Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV Evolution, Nissan Concept 2020, Aston Martin DP-100 Vision Gran Turismo, Toyota FT-1 Concept, Subaru VIZIV GT Vision Gran Turismo, Mazda, Le Mans Prototype, etc.) all equipped with Radical Laser Propulsion System from the best manufacturers. It also has a lot of beautiful race locations and more enhanced and modified graphics.

I remember coming back from school on a Friday and playing this game till at least 4 a.m. the following day. It is safe to say this game is still exactly as I remembered it, and the handling and gameplay still hold up to this day, which is a testament to the good work done by the development team at Polyphony Digital Studios.

Need for Speed Undercover (Arcade racer_ Available on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360)

2. Need for Speed Undercover (Arcade racer; Available on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360)

Need for Speed: Undercover, a suspenseful and action-packed car racing game released in 2008, undoubtedly rocked the world of fans. This game’s incredible variety of automobiles, fast-paced, action-packed gameplay, interesting plot, and accessibility on nearly all major gaming platforms made it extremely addictive and captivating for all racing game enthusiasts worldwide. Over 5.5 million copies of the game were sold globally, making EA Black Box and Electronic Arts extremely wealthy.

The game’s map is split into four major sections called Palm Harbour, Port Crescent, Gold Coast Mountains, and Sunset Valley, and it offers a variety of race events for all the boroughs. Need for Speed: Undercover gives you the ability to customise your cars exactly to your needs and enjoy racing while operating top-tier race cars thanks to all the wonderful perks, upgrades, and other items.

This is one of the few games I did not purchase myself and had to borrow from a friend, never returning it afterwards. (Imran, if you’re reading this, I’m so sorry.) However, if there was ever a game to “borrow,” it was this.

Need for Speed: Undercover is a thrilling game to play because of all the spectacular races, gorgeous and realistic race tracks and sights, improved mechanics, very difficult and adrenaline-pumping gameplay, and dramatic clashes with the police.

This was another of the games I spent an ungodly amount of time playing, and pardon my French, but I damn near raced the wheels of this game. And all of that was done with a controller, so when I recently strapped this game up to the Logitech G27, all those memories came flooding back, and going through all of its 109 kilometres of highways and street corners was a lot of fun to do again.

F1 2013 (Sim racer_ Available on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360)

3. F1 2013 (Sim racer; Available on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360)

Based on the 2013 FIA Formula One World Championship, F1 2013 is a wonderful Formula One car racing video game. The game allows you to play against your opponents in an entirely new setting and features all the racing events, cars, circuits, and stars, among other things. You may compete with renowned racers, drive historic race cars, and navigate 80s-era racetracks in F1 2013’s Classic game mode. F1 2013 offers improved controls, entirely new drivers, teams, and car handling techniques, as well as graphic and visual improvements, a fresh take on the game, and a tonne of brand-new competitors.

You can choose from 22 top-tier drivers and their Formula 1 race cars in F1 2013 and compete against your rivals to outrace them and take the circuits. There are over eleven new teams as well. I didn’t play a lot of F1 back in the day, but I did have a lot of fun going back and playing it now, but I won’t lie to you, this was not a great entry from the F1 team, and I didn’t enjoy playing this as much as I enjoyed playing Undercover or Tourismo 6.

Burnout Paradise (Arcade racer_ Available on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360)

4. Burnout Paradise (Arcade racer; Available on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360)

Burnout Paradise is a fantastic addition to the Burnout video game series and is a super-thriller and fast-paced, action-packed car racing game. The game features a frantic and extremely exciting game-play in which you have the freedom to destroy anything and everything you want, smash your cars into countless other cars, and create a huge pileup at a crossroads.

Induce chaos and mayhem by breaking every single traffic regulation known to man and keep going as if nothing happened. There aren’t crazy police chases like in Need for Speed, but due to the sheer amount of chaos you can wreak over paradise city, you don’t need a police chase to heighten the experience; there’s more than enough of it to go around.

You can play the game in single-player or multiplayer modes in the open world while completing various challenges like races and time trials, which enhance your licence and give you access to more races. You can do tricks, destroy other vehicles by colliding with them, and even fly through the skies like a jet.

While driving through the open world, you can take down opponents to unlock and take control of their vehicles. With Burnout Paradise, you can play the game however you like and become the most sought-after person in the virtual world. You’ll undoubtedly become engrossed in the gaming world with all the excitement and action in it. I can still hear Guns N’ Roses’ “Paradise City” playing in my head while writing this article.

iRacing (Physics Sim Racer_ Available on PC)

5. iRacing (Physics Sim Racer: Available on PC)

If Burnout Paradise’s mentality is to “drive it like you stole it,” then iRacing is unquestionably to “drive it like you borrowed it from the manager and your career will be over if you get even so much as a smudge on it.” There are no driver assistance features, automatic braking or steering aids, rewind mechanisms, or even small maps of the circuit you’re on.

Instead, iRacing emphasises complete realism, with circuits and physics models that are incredibly accurate and a focus on real ability and track and car knowledge to succeed. If you were training to be an F1 or track racer, you would still find it hard to win a race here.

iRacing, in contrast to the other games on this list, is an online subscription game where advancement is made by taking part in races against live opponents at predetermined times of the day. Winning doesn’t guarantee advancement; you might gain your next licence by driving carefully, avoiding collisions with other vehicles, or staying on track.

Due to its emphasis on realism, iRacing is likely the least “fun” game on my list, but because it gives you the closest sense of being in control of a race vehicle on a track, it is also reportedly used as a training tool by professional racers, although a lot of them call this game the stuff of nightmares. iRacing’s monthly subscription costs $9 on Steam.

Some Honourable Mentions

I thought that it would be important to list a few honourable mentions who couldn’t make the cut in the top 5.

Project Cars

1. Project Cars

Project Cars is an award-winning racing video game that has become a favourite among gamers. The game boasts a wide variety of cars, tracks, and gameplay styles, making it perfect for those looking to test their skills in the virtual world. If you’re looking to take your Project CARS experience to the next level, you’ll need the right steering wheel setup. Fortunately, Logitech’s G27 is an excellent option for those looking to get the most out of their gaming gear.

Assetto Corsa

2. Assetto Corsa

Assetto Corsa is a highly acclaimed racing game, thanks to its realistic driving model and challenging AI. If you’re looking for an ultra-immersive experience with your Logitech G27, then Assetto Corsa is a perfect choice. This title provides detailed customization options and support for a variety of wheel setups, letting you tailor your experience to your preferences.

The G27 is a great option for Assetto Corsa, providing feedback via force feedback and helical gearing. With the G27 setup, you can enjoy the thrill of racing on some of the most iconic tracks in virtual reality. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, Assetto Corsa will provide you with plenty of challenge and excitement, no matter how good you are.

DiRT Rally

3. DiRT Rally

DiRT Rally is a must-have for any racing fan with a Logitech G27. This title provides an adrenaline-fueled experience and realistic driving physics, perfect for testing your skills on some of the most treacherous rally tracks in virtual reality. The G27 is one of the best wheels to use with DiRT Rally, offering precise control via force feedback.

It provides a smooth and immersive experience that makes it easy to get lost in the game. With the Logitech G27 racing wheel setup, you can enjoy hours of intense rallying action as you battle for the top spot on international leaderboards. Whether you’re looking for a casual race or a hardcore rally challenge, DiRT Rally has something to offer everyone. Ever since Richard Burn’s Rally game, it has been hard to find another great rally game, but I think DiRT Rally took the crown.

Conclusion

Putting this list together was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed going down memory lane to revisit a lot of games that I haven’t played in a long time. I was very surprised to see that some of them still worked. I also got to see my mom because of this list, and that was really nice.

A lot of the games on this list are really old and graphically wouldn’t be as good as most of the recent games we play, but there’s a certain charm that these games have that you might not be able to find anywhere else, and hopefully, this list will satisfy your nostalgia itch and maybe you’ll be able to find something you like in this list.

If I were to make a recommendation for one game, my personal favourite would be Burnout Paradise. Since writing this list, I’ve finished it a few times, and playing it with the Logitech G27 makes the game even better. Also, the game has been remastered for the PS4, so if you want to play it with a newer console and steering wheel set, you’re in luck.

Thank you so much for reading this one. Please feel free to ask as many questions as you’d like in the comments section, and I’d also like to hear from our older gamers who may have played these games and would like to share their fondest memories. P.S. Mine was chasing down my first car in Burnout Paradise.
