Which is Actually Better: Xbox or PlayStation?

The console debate will keep happening until the world ends, and when it comes to Xbox or PlayStation, it seems like the argument is on another level. The battle line appears to have been drawn, and fans of both consoles have flocked to support their favourite console maker with all of their hearts.

I don’t know what it is about picking a favourite brand and what they have to offer or which is better, but for some reason, everybody gets all hot and bothered when someone says one is better than the other. We had this debate very recently at the office, and I can’t lie; some people might have lost their jobs if I had not stepped in to cool some tempers.

I have no stake or stock in either company, so I have both consoles, and that may seem like blasphemy to some, but I’m cool with it. I like what I like. However, most people arguing on Reddit or Twitter most of the time don’t have both consoles, so they can’t say for certain which is better, but you know who does? Me! So, in this article, I’m going to put an end to the console wars and answer the question, “Which is actually better: Xbox or PlayStation?”

Which is Actually Better_ Xbox or PlayStation

Which is Actually Better: Xbox or PlayStation?

Both the Xbox and the PlayStation consoles have their own unique features that make them appealing to different types of gamers. It’s tough to say which is better because it ultimately comes down to personal preference and which console speaks more to your individual gaming needs and interests.

Generally, it’s hard to say which console is better overall because there are different aspects of each that make them stand out. In the end, it’s up to the gamer to decide which console is right for them.

Which Has the Better Graphics: Xbox or PlayStation?

Xbox has released their latest Xbox series X, and PlayStation has released the PS5, so that is the best place to pick which has the best graphics. This is not an easy question, and it will require a bit of expertise and technical know-how to answer these questions. Because without a doubt, both consoles are producing some of the best graphics I’ve ever seen on a console.

They both implement 4K resolutions, and both Microsoft and Sony say their consoles are 8K capable. They also have ray-tracing and heavy-duty physics-based algorithms that produce spectacular weather and particle effects with great results.

Another thing that must be taken into account is developer implementation and art styles because, in the end, it is not as cut and dry. When deciding which has the best graphics in town, after all, as they say, “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”, and with two very powerful consoles, the naked eyes can’t be trusted to make an unbiased decision.

So, the only way to settle this is to take a look under the hood and see which is pushing out more power than the other and decide from there.

However, that is still not the best solution because one may be slightly more powerful than the other, but they both implement their power to varying degrees. If we don’t take it as we see it when we look at the specs, we will be stuck here forever.

So, which is more powerful_ Xbox or PlayStation_

So, which is more powerful: Xbox or PlayStation?

Xbox Series X beats the PS5, but those are in very key places. The Xbox Series X beats the PS5’s CPU by 0.3GHz, but what is funny is that both consoles use the same 8-core AMD Zen 2 processors. The key difference is that the PS5 is overclocked at 3.5GHz, and the Series X is overclocked at 3.8GHz. So, in terms of raw processing power, the Xbox beats the PS5, but ever so slightly.

In terms of graphical power output, the Xbox Series X wins this one with a more convincing lead, but again, how much of a difference does “two” make? However, “two” might be the difference between a good-looking hurricane and a great-looking hurricane.

Both consoles share the same AMD RDNA 2 GPU, but the Series X can hit 12.0 TFLOPS while the PS5 can hit 10.3 TFLOPS. So, again I ask, how much of a difference does “two” make in the grand scheme of things?

They both have 16GB of DDR6 RAM and can hit 8K resolutions as well as 120FPS, which is still not perfectly attainable in all games. They both come out on top in terms of 4K UHD Blu-ray output. So, while Xbox may have won this round, PlayStation is not far behind.

Which has More Exclusive Games: Xbox or PlayStation?

In terms of exclusives, PlayStation is absolutely beating Xbox. While they share many titles, Sony has a lot of first-party and console exclusives to make even Microsoft feel ashamed.

The likes of Horizon Zero Dawn, Forbidden West, God of War, Gran Turismo, Demon Souls, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, Ghost of Tsushima, the Last of Us series, and even Bloodborne are all titles that make Xbox come close.

Yes, the Xbox has Gears, Halo, Forza, Sunset Overdrive, State of Decay, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and more, but their list of games pales in comparison to all that the PlayStation has.

Hence, why they started buying up gaming studios like Bethesda Softworks, and it doesn’t look like they are going to stop anytime soon. However, Sony still has studios like Sony Santa Monica and Insomniac Games to call on.

Which is More Affordable_ Xbox or PlayStation_

Which is More Affordable: Xbox or PlayStation?

In terms of pricing, it is hard to say which console costs more. For all of their latest consoles, they both launched with a $500 price tag for their disc models and a $400 price tag for their disc-less models. They have both suffered from scalpers, and they have both suffered from chip shortages and inflation, so it was hard to say that one was more expensive than the other.

However, PlayStation recently stated in a press release that they were going to be raising the price of their consoles in countries outside of the US. It remains to be seen how much those changes would cost gamers, but I’m sure it’s not going to be cheap.

Which Console is More User-friendly: Xbox or PlayStation?

The PS5 has the best user interface I have ever seen. It is smoother and has way more accessibility options than the Xbox Series X. The Series X user interface feels very cluttered, clumsy, and clustered.

The UI on the Series X feels very dated, and it still feels very slow. The Xbox Series X seems easy to use, but all the apps are clustered together instead of being separated, and while you can put things into folders,

The PS5 has a quick action button to switch between specific sets of apps, which makes switching between media and gaming apps much easier on the PS5.

However, both consoles are still very simple to use and have very good tutorials to explain how to use each system when they are launched. So, it isn’t hard to pick up either console and start using each of them.

Which Console Has More Upcoming Titles_ Xbox or PlayStation_

Which Console Has More Upcoming Titles: Xbox or PlayStation?

There are many more upcoming PlayStation titles. At their latest state-of-play event, PlayStation recently announced about six games that were going to come out from next year onwards. They also closed out the event by announcing that God of War: Ragnarök would be coming out this November.

So clearly, PlayStation has a lot more coming for their players this year. It seems like this has been a very quiet year for Xbox, so I’m hoping they will be able to push out a few more games next year, but as it stands, PlayStation is well and truly ahead of the competition.

There are still a few titles Xbox might announce before the year runs out, but I still think they won’t be able to match what PlayStation has already announced. I hope Bethesda’s Starfield will still come out next year because if it doesn’t, then Xbox is falling behind.

Which has better third-party support: the Xbox or PlayStation?

This is another one that goes PlayStation’s way. That’s because of how easy it is to develop games on the PlayStation console. While Xbox is also simple, it is not as good as third-party developers, such as PlayStation.

Before PlayStation 5 launched, Sony was able to ship out more developer kits to third-party developers than Xbox. That is why a lot more games performed better on the PS5 at launch than on the Xbox Series X.

Across multiple examples, the performance advantages in frame rates, resolution, shading, and textures lean towards the PS5 as often as the Xbox Series X, with varying results from game to game.

However, some of the performance dips on the Series X’s side are slightly puzzling, given the superior specs. However, in terms of players’ and third-party games, both companies answer and resolve problems very quickly.

Games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla initially had some poor frame rate handling in performance modes on the Series X, but it wasn’t until the X received a patch to help it out.

While Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition performed slightly better on the Series X when ray tracing was enabled, the PS5 performed better and had higher frame rates than the Xbox Series X.

Which has More Online Features_ Xbox or PlayStation_

Which has More Online Features: Xbox or PlayStation?

In terms of online features, it feels like both consoles have very similar features; they both have online gaming and game streaming subscriptions, as well as cloud gaming features. They both have different variations on remote play, but both are still similar.

While PlayStation has a direct PlayStation remote-play connection, Xbox makes use of the Xbox Game Pass. However, it feels like Game Pass is a bit better than PlayStation Plus, but only for now.

Which Console is more Reliable: Xbox or PlayStation?

In terms of reliability, Xbox and PlayStation all have the best quality consoles, and it is not a matter of quality in design and build quality because both consoles are pretty reliable and very rarely fall behind or get damaged very easily.

Conclusion

After thoroughly testing and comparing both consoles, I believe it is fair to say that they are both great options, and it is difficult to determine which one is better. Ultimately, it is up to the individual to decide which console they prefer.

However, both consoles are great options from great console makers. I hope you found this article informative and helpful. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave them in the comments section. Thank you.
