Released in 2018, the Audeze Mobius Headphone comes highly recommended if you are passionate about high-quality sound production. In this Audeze Mobius headphone review, I’ll be discussing the pros and cons of Audeze’s latest headphone, the Mobius.

First off, let me say that these headphones are definitely on the expensive side. But if you’re looking for a top-of-the-line pair of headphones, then the Mobius is definitely worth considering.

This headphone comes solidly built and is mostly referred to as a gaming headphone because it focuses on creating surround sound and blocks background noise, making the player completely engrossed in the game. It is also used to converse with other players during a game.

Aside from just gaming, the Audeze Mobius Headphone allows users to listen to music watch movies either on a laptop or smartphone while presenting high-quality sound. This Headphone provides users with an Immersive Cinematic 3D Audio experience.

The Unboxing of Audeze Mobius Headphones

The Unboxing

In addition to the Headphone itself, the Audeze Mobius Headphone comes with an analogue 3.5mm cable, USB-C to USB-C cable, USB-A to USB-C cable, a detachable 3.5mm microphone, a cinch bag for carrying it and some manuals.

The included manuals explain the headphones features, safety and setup instructions, pairing guide and warranty.

About The Audeze Mobius Headphone

About The Audeze Mobius Headphone

This headphone comes with memory foam in the headphone band and pads that look like actual leather, making it extremely comfortable to use, even when worn for a long duration.

The body is made up partly of plastic material, and the headband can be twisted and bent without the fear of breaking or damaging the headband. It is available in Blue and Copper colours. This headphone weighs around 350grams.

As opposed to various high-end gaming headphones that are large, the Audeze Mobius looks more like a regular headphone as it can fit in easily into any environment, be it an office setting or when you are travelling.

It is the first gaming headphone to use planar magnetic drivers, a device that converts electrical signals to sound waves and makes sound tighter and more controlled with better extension capabilities and less distortion.

These planar magnetic drivers use magnetic fields in the generation of sounds and as such, reproduce sound with top-notch accuracy.

The buttons for controlling headphones are situated on the left headphone. The power button is used to turn on the headset and activate Bluetooth pairing.

The 3D audio button controls the headphone’s audio settings. Some buttons can be used for volume and mic adjustments, and the mute mic switch situated on the side of the headphone will mute the mic.

3D Audio of Audeze Mobius Headphones

3D Audio

This is one of the most captivating features of the Audeze Mobius Headphones. Audeze partnered with Waves NX Technology to incorporate real-time head tracking by including gyroscopes in the headphones.

This feature reproduces a speaker environment in the headphone and adjusts sound by the smallest movement of your head, making the audio come in louder through the headphone and closer to the origin point.

A tap on the 3D Audio button sets a point in front of you and anchors the sound there as if it is coming from a set of speakers.

Mobius is the first headphones ever created to provide a truly believable and fully immersive Surround Sound listening experience without any additional software or hardware required.

This sense of space and ability to track sound with your body movement is an exciting feature.

The 3D Audio can be summarised with these features:

  • Sound Localization: As the positioning of your head changes, the Mobius headphone identifies and maintains the source of the sound, with active changes as you move.
  • Integrated Head Tracking: The Mobius headphones precisely track even the tiniest of head movements 1000 times a second to feed the 3D emulation algorithm.
  • Room Emulation: This is a sophisticated customizable tool that creates a sense of space and reflection of the sound within a room.
Gaming Experience of Audeze Mobius Headphones

Gaming Experience

The 3D Audio supports 5.1 and 7.1 Surround Sound audio and teaming up with Waves NX technology makes directional audio even more accurate and easy to tell where the sounds (gunfire and noise chests make when wandering around) are coming from.

The sound is always clear and remains undistorted, even at the loudest volume.

3D Room emulation works better when you are seeing a movie, interesting content or listening to music.

Software of Audeze Mobius Headphones

The Mobius Headphone comes with a configuration app called Audeze HQ, which enables users to have access to sound profiles such as Flat, Default, Ballistics, Footsteps, Music, Warm, Racing and RPG. While some of these profiles allow you to enjoy gaming, others allow you to enjoy your music.

The Mobius Headphone can be said to recreate how sound works in a live concert environment. You can switch among the various 3D modes and choose between Stereo and Surround Sound.

Furthermore, with Audeze HQ, you can customise settings relating to the head-related transfer function personalisation (HRTF) and head gestures.

Customising these settings allows users to set up their audio experience with a personalised sound profile selection.

It also helps you adjust head circumference based on your head measurement with the help of a CG mannequin that shows your head measurement in real-time and moves when you do, depending on the head tracking signal coming from the Headphone.

Audeze Mobius Connectivity

You can use the Mobius Headphone by Audeze in either Wired Mode with the aid of Analog/USB or Wireless Mode using Bluetooth.

However, regardless of which mode is in use, your headphone uses the internal battery to process the signal except when it is plugged in via USB. It supports SBC, AAC and LDAC via Bluetooth connectivity.
