Game Story And Characters

The story behind Luigi’s Mansion 3 captures the journey and adventure of Luigi as he tries to save his friends from the ghost that kept them captive in a haunted hotel they visited for vacation.

The game itself features two gameplay modes: a single-player game mode and multiplayer game mode, which shares similar ghost-catching features as the previous games – where the player shock ghosts using Luigi’s Strobulb and snag them with a Poltergust, declining their health in order to capture the ghosts.

In the plot of the Luigi’s Mansion 3 game, Luigi, the main character of the game and Polterpup; his pet dog, Mario; his brother, Princess Peach and a trio of Toads set out to vacation on The Last Resort, a magnificent hotel located around a mountainside region. Luigi and his travel partners were all welcomed to the Resort by Hellen Gravely, the spooky hotel owner.

They all went off to rest after they were all settled in, but around nighttime, Luigi woke up to find that the hotel had been abandoned and transformed to a creepy and haunted house with his friends missing.

There he discovered that his arch-nemesis, King Boo, had planned with the hotel owner to lure and trap them in the haunted building. It was the hotelier who freed King Boo from the custody of Professor E. Gadd who had captured him earlier in the previous game.

King Boo, out for revenge, reveals his plan to imprison Luigi and friends in portraits but before he could complete his mission, Luigi was able to flee to the ground floor of the hotel through the laundry chute. Also trapped in the Hotel building, Luigi explores the basement with the assistance of his pet, Polterpup, who also escaped being captured by King Boo.

At the underground basement garage, Luigi found an old red car that holds a new model of Poltergust vacuum. Armed with the Poltergust vacuum, Luigi and Poltergust left the basement for the lobby, where they discovered that Professor E. Gadd was captured as well.

However, when exploring the lobby, he found a safe where the Professor’s dark-light Device was hidden, which he used to free the Professor. They both set up a Lab in the underground garage, and the professor narrates how he was lured to visit the hotel by Hellen, who captured him and stole his ghost collections to staff the hotel.

The professor informs Luigi he believes his friends were trapped on the upper floors of the building and advises him to look for the upper floors’ elevator buttons that were taken out from the main elevator earlier when he defeated a ghost.

With no other choice, Luigi begins his search for the missing elevator buttons that will grant him access to explore the hotel floors. He was supported by the professor who supplied two gadgets; a virtual boy communication device known as Virtual Boo and an ectoplasmic doppelganger of Luigi known as Gooigi to assist him with his task.

In his search, he encounters and defeats different varieties of ghosts to reclaim the elevator buttons and rescue the Toads from the portraits they were trapped in, provoking and enraging Helen, the Hotel Owner.

Having saved the Toads, Luigi on getting to the top floor of the hotel confronted Hellen who he was able to defeat and rescue Mario, and Luigi continued to the rooftop where they found Peach’s portrait and freed her as well.

The group, after reuniting were attacked by King Boo, who, this time around, entrapped everyone into a single giant portrait. Luigi, saved accidentally by Polterpup at the last minute, is forced to defeat King Boo yet again with the help of Gooigi.

While fighting, King Boo magnifies the portrait and tries to pull the entire building into the portrait with Luigi still stuck on the rooftop, but Luigi was able to defeat King Boo and recover the portrait before the hotel could collapse into ruins.

As his friends were freed from the portrait, the trapped ghosts escaped from their confinement and tried to attack but stopped and became friendly as the jewel on King Boo’s crown faded away, signifying that they were being controlled by him.

The Professor, noting that the ghosts were unhappy about the destruction to their home, persuaded the group to lend a hand with building a new hotel for the ghosts, and after the grand opening Luigi and his friends left for home. At the same time, the Captured King boo and his partner in crime, Hellen, were placed in imprisonment.

The New Hotel size is dependent on the amount of money that Luigi can collect throughout his adventure in the game.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 game is a beautifully crafted video game, credits to the game developer, Next level games, for delivering a high-quality visual experience like never before compared to the other games in the series.

The game graphics can run at a resolution of 1080p in docked mode, but during cutscenes, it is likely to drop down to 900p and run at a stable framerate of 30fps. Whereas for portable mode, the screen resolution is 720p and also drops in cutscenes.

The soundtrack and sound effect used for Luigi’s Mansion 3 is amazing and perfect, creating that creepy and chilling effect that blends with the gameplay.

The sound composer and the game developers delivered a variety of sound effects for various happenings and the characters; from the Bird chirp close used for the cutscene in the intro, to the Dogs barks and yelps used for Polterpup, the sound used when Luigi slips on the floor in an attempt to catch a ghost and an array of other different sound effects.

Playability

The Luigi’s Mansion 3 gameplay contains similar gameplay elements as the previous games in the series with additional features such as ghost catching, Gooigi an assistant doppelganger of the main character. Luigi’s Mansion 3 also has a multiplayer mode that allows players to engage both physically and online in a collaborative and competitive gaming experience.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 game is more flexible in its gameplay and exploration compared to Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon; players are allowed to explore the floors in the resort. The only restriction is that higher floors cannot be explored using the elevator until the elevator button that grants access is found and the only floors with stairs at the basement and main lobby.

In the single-player mode, players explore the 17 floors of the large hotel, with each floor having its own different theme, features, and ghosts that the player must defeat to progress. During the exploration of the floors in the building, the player solves puzzles and collects treasures such as gold bars, banknotes, and coins.

Also, to be collected on the floors are special gems, hearts that Luigi uses to recover lost health during ghost attacks and other hazards.

The game’s multiplayer mode allows up to eight players to play both physically and online. The players can engage in the gameplay collaboratively as a team through the ScareScraper, a feature from the Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, or compete as teams in ScreamPark – Team Luigi and Team Gooigi.

Gooigi, Luigi’s ectoplasmic doppelganger, also assists him in battles and unravelling puzzles. Gooigi has the ability to squeeze through small openings and spiky walk-through floors, but he’s quick to lose his natural form when it comes in contact with either fire or water.
